Importance of Body Language in Presentation

Vital and visible part of presentation is the use of body language. Body language can be used to deliver your message with power.
  Some guidelines are specified below:

1. Make sure your hands are not distracting the flow during the presentation. ( Playing with buttons, Hair
    Slides etc.)


2. The gestures you use should be natural and not mechanical.

3. Gestures used above the shoulders helps to convey spiritual or uplifting messages to the audience.

4. Ordinary messages are conveyed by gestures located in the middle of the body.

5. Hold the palm upwards and outwards to offer support, request, response and openness with the audience.

6. Use professional clothing during presentation.

7. Make a powerful and straight walking style

Distracting Mannerisms

1. Gripping or leaning on the lectern.

2. Toying with coins or any other material.

3. Biting of lips.

5. Adjusting the collar of the shirt.

6. Adjusting hair or cloth.

Guidelines for Seminar Presentation using Slides

1. Slide presentation should include less than 12 slides.

2. Prepare the illustrations such as pictures, charts and graphs if necessary.

3. Never include too much information in each illustrations.

4. Notify the points in bullets or number format. 

5. Use only one statement in each bullet.

6. Clearly state the publications/authors/technology/application area of the topic.

7. Face the audience most of the time.

8. If you feel nervous, mind it, it will not kill you. Try to face some friendly faces in the audience
   for attaining confidence.


9. Don't read from the screen/manuscripts. Instead use your own words.

10. If you realize that your presentation takes longer than expected skip some materials.
